Game-console repair in North Jersey
We repair game consoles at all five Talk N Fix Wireless stores - PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and Wii, across every generation. Console faults tend to be one of a small number of things: the video output, the power, the heat, the disc drive, or the controllers. HDMI faults are the most common of those.
What consoles come in with
- The console powers on but the television shows no signal
- Picture cuts out mid-game, or only works if the HDMI cable is held still
- It will not power on at all, or clicks and shuts straight back down
- It runs loud and hot, then shuts itself off during longer sessions
- The disc drive will not take a disc, will not read one, or will not give it back
- A controller drifts on its own with nobody touching it
- A Switch will not charge, or will not output to the television when docked
- The console has liquid damage, or something was spilled near it
Overheating shutdowns are worth acting on early. A console that shuts down to protect itself is telling you something is wrong with its cooling, and running it anyway is how a cleaning job turns into a board job.

The Process
Step by step
Free diagnostic
We confirm whether you are looking at a port, a power fault, a cooling problem or a board fault. Consoles produce misleading symptoms - a no-signal console is not always the HDMI port.
Written quote
Given before anything is opened, and approved by you first.
Routing, if it is board-level work
Ferry Street and Passaic Street have micro-soldering technicians in house. If your console needs board-level work and you brought it to one of the other three stores, they take it in and send it across for you.
The repair
Port replacement, cleaning and re-pasting, drive work or board-level repair, depending on what the diagnostic found.
Testing under load
A console is tested running, not just powered on, because heat faults do not show themselves in the first thirty seconds.
Handover
You see it working before you pay, and the warranty runs from that day.
How long a console repair takes
Common console parts are stocked, so most console work is same day.
Board-level work is the exception. It is quoted on what the board actually needs, and if it has to travel from one of the three stores to Ferry Street or Passaic Street, allow for that.
The rule is the same across everything we repair: common devices and common parts are same-day, usually 30 to 45 minutes while you wait. Rarer devices and less common parts are ordered, which means 24 hours or more.
Call your nearest store with your model before you travel and we will tell you which of the two you are.
Warranty
30-day warranty on every repair and sale. 6-month and 1-year warranty options available.
What makes the price go up or down
We do not publish a fixed price for this repair, because the price depends on what we find once the device is open.
You get a written quote after the free diagnostic, and nothing is started until you approve it. If something beyond the original fault turns up during the repair, we stop, tell you what we have found, and quote again before we go any further.
You are never charged for work you have not agreed to. For a figure on your exact model, call your nearest store.

Which consoles do you repair?
PlayStation, Xbox, Switch including Lite and OLED, and Wii and Wii U - every generation of each.
My console shows no signal on the TV. Is that the HDMI port?
Often, but not always - the same symptom comes from the board behind the port, and the two need different work. The free diagnostic separates them before you spend anything.
Can you fix controller drift?
Yes, that is one of the most common things we see. Bring the controller in with or without the console.
Do all your stores repair consoles?
Yes, all five take console work. Ferry Street and Passaic Street do board-level work on site; the other three take the job in and route it to one of those two. You go to whichever store is nearest.
My console overheats and shuts down. Is it worth repairing?
Usually, and usually sooner rather than later. Cleaning and fresh thermal paste solves a lot of these, and it is a far smaller job than what happens if it keeps overheating.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome at all five stores.
