Cellphone screen repair in North Jersey
Screen repair is the job we do most, on every brand of phone, at all five Talk N Fix Wireless stores. This page is about the fault rather than the badge on the back: what a failing display actually looks like, what decides whether you need glass or a whole assembly, and how long you will be waiting. Whichever phone you carry, the answer starts the same way - a free look before any price is quoted.
What a failing screen looks like
- Cracked glass, whether or not the display underneath still works
- The display is intact but touch has died in a band or a corner
- Ghost touch - the phone opening things by itself, typing without you
- Lines, coloured bands or blotches that were not there before the drop
- The screen is black but the phone still rings, vibrates and takes calls
- The image is there but very dim, even at full brightness
- The glass is lifting away from the frame at one edge
A phone that is black but still vibrating is usually a display fault rather than a dead phone, and that is a much better position to be in than it feels like. Bring it in before you write it off.

The Process
Step by step
Free diagnostic
We check whether the damage is the outer glass alone or the display assembly under it, because that is the difference between two very different prices.
Written quote
Priced for your exact model and for the option that actually applies to your damage. You approve it before anything is opened.
Stock check
We tell you whether the screen for your model is on the shelf, which is what decides whether you wait or come back.
The replacement
The old assembly comes out, the new one goes in, and seals and adhesive are replaced rather than reused so the phone closes up as it should.
Touch and display testing
We test touch across the whole panel, not the middle of it, along with the sensors that live behind the screen on your model.
Handover
You see it working before you pay, and the warranty runs from that day.
How long a screen repair takes
iPhone and Samsung screens are stocked, so those are wait-in-store repairs.
Pixel screens and the less common brands are ordered.
The rule is the same across everything we repair: common devices and common parts are same-day, usually 30 to 45 minutes while you wait. Rarer devices and less common parts are ordered, which means 24 hours or more.
Call your nearest store with your model before you travel and we will tell you which of the two you are.
Warranty
30-day warranty on every repair and sale. 6-month and 1-year warranty options available.
What makes the price go up or down
We do not publish a fixed price for this repair, because the price depends on what we find once the device is open.
You get a written quote after the free diagnostic, and nothing is started until you approve it. If something beyond the original fault turns up during the repair, we stop, tell you what we have found, and quote again before we go any further.
You are never charged for work you have not agreed to. For a figure on your exact model, call your nearest store.

Can you replace just the glass instead of the whole screen?
On some models, yes, and it costs less. On others the glass and the display are bonded as one part and have to be replaced together. We tell you which yours is at the free assessment.
My screen is black but the phone still rings. Is it dead?
Usually not. That pattern normally points at the display rather than the phone, which is the cheaper of the two problems to have.
Is a small crack worth fixing now?
Usually yes. Cracks let dust and moisture past the seal, and a crack over the digitiser tends to spread into dead touch. Small cracks rarely stay small.
Will a screen repair erase anything?
No. Replacing a screen does not touch your storage.
Do you repair Pixel screens?
Yes, every generation, but Pixel parts are ordered rather than stocked, so allow 24 hours or more.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome at all five stores.
